For the second year, the West Somerset Railway and Hestercombe Gardens, near Taunton, have combined to encourage visitors to use public transport to get to the wonderful forty acre garden.

The garden is a unique combination of three period gardens, the Georgian Landscape, Victorian terrace and the Edwardian formal garden.  All of these have been lovingly restored over recent years having lain abandoned for many years.

The combined day out will run every Wednesday in June, July, August and September with passengers joining the 10.30 steam hauled service from Minehead (or any of the stations up the line).  At Bishops Lydeard a coach will wisk passengers to Hestercombe for nearly three hours where the tranquil gardens and well stocked restaurant may be enjoyed to the full.

The return bus to Bishops Lydeard leaves Hestercombe at 3.25p.m. to get travellers back in time for the a steam hauled return to their point of departure.
A wonderful day out – and no driving involved once you have joined the train.
