The Turntable was used for the first time early this morning. 4160 was the choosen locomotive for this first train run and was successfully turned and is now with its smokebox facing Minehead.
This is just the first of many test turns and it will be several months yet before the turntable is used on a regular basis.
Chief Mechanical Engineer Andrew Forster was pleased with the result saying that the locomotive, which was moved onto the turntable using a Diesel shunter, was balanced first time.
