Flying Scotsman 26th June - 14th July

TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE ON THE WEST SOMERSET RAILWAY WEBSITE ON WEDNESDAY 23^RD APRIL FROM 9.30 am. 

The West Somerset Railway will be welcoming the iconic Flying Scotsman locomotive between 26^th June 2025 until 14^th July  2025.

We will have a variety of different excursions and ticket options available, and these are listed below. Each excursion type will have its own separate webpage on our website the bold and underlined text shows the title of each page.

Please see below for the dates, and prices of each excursion, the webpages will be added and updated as and when further information is available.

We ask that you do not call for further information at this time. 

Special tickets will be available throughout its visit to us and are listed below:

• Daytime Excursions – Flying Scotsman, There will be four excursions per day for travel from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead return, one way behind the Flying Scotsman, and one way behind a West Somerset Railway home Fleet locomotive – your journey may therefore either start behind the Flying Scotsman from Bishops Lydeard or your return journey will be behind the Flying Scotsman from Minehead. We will have a limited number of accessible spaces on board the train, therefore to make a reservation to include an accessible space you must call us on the dedicated flying scotsman phone number to make your booking, once the phone line is open.  
  • Ticket prices will be £50.00 for adults and £30.00 for children.
  • Tickets will be available for 28^th, 29^th and 30^th June, 1^st, 2^nd, 8^th, 9^th, 10^th, 11^th & 12^th July 2025.
  • Timings are as follows: 

    • Excursion 1: 10:00 from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead behind a home fleet locomotive. Return service from Minehead at 12.15 behind the Flying Scotsman. 

      Excursion 2: 10.40 from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead behind the Flying Scotsman. Return service from Minehead at 12.50 behind a home fleet locomotive. 

      Excursion 3: 14.30 from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead behind a home fleet locomotive. Return service from Minehead at 16.45 behind the Flying Scotsman. 

      Excursion 4: 15.10 from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead behind the Flying Scotsman. Return service from Minehead at 17.20 behind a home fleet locomotive. 

• Evening Fish and Chips – Flying Scotsman Evening excursion with Fish and Chips, behind the Flying Scotsman from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead return. 
  • The price for this will be £95 per person
  • Dates will be 29^th June & 2^nd, 8^th, 9^th & 12^th July
  • Time: 19.10 from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead returning back to Bishops Lydeard at 22.40. 
• Evening Afternoon Tea – Flying Scotsman Evening Excursion with Afternoon Tea behind the Flying Scotsman from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead return. Please note that these dates may change before the release of tickets.
  • The price for this will be £95 per person
  • Dates will be 28th June 2^nd, 8^th , 9^th & 11th July 2025.
  • Time: 19.10 from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead returning back to Bishops Lydeard at 22.40. 
• Evening Travel Only – Flying Scotsman - Evening Travel Only from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead return behind the Flying Scotsman.
  • The price for this will be £70.00 per Adult and £40.00 per child.
  • Dates will be 28^th, 29^th June & 2^nd, 8^th, 9^th 11^th & 12^th July.
  • Time: 19.10 from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead returning back to Bishops Lydeard at 22.40. 
• Evening Quantock Belle Flying Scotsman - Excursion on the Quantock Belle Dining Train with a four-course meal behind the Flying Scotsman from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead Return.
  • The price for this will be £150 per person or £320.00 for a guaranteed table for two.
  • Dates will be 28^thand 29^th June & 11^th and 12^th July.
  • Time: 19.10 from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead returning back to Bishops Lydeard at 22.40. 
• Static displays-Flying Scotsman.

We will also have static days available where the locomotive will be on display at Bishops Lydeard your ticket will include a Cream Tea in the garden at Station house. Please note that the static display will be accessible by ticket only.

• Dates of Static events 26^th & 27^th June & 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th, 6^th, 7^th 13^th & 14^th July 2025
• Prices for Static days are £20.00 per person. 

Please note that pets are not permitted to travel on any of our Flying Scotsman services due to the expectation that this will be a very busy event, (except for assistance dogs, please make us aware in the notes section when booking your tickets if you are bringing an assistance dog).

Please also note that as this is a special event Annual Passes and other passes are not valid on the Flying Scotsman services.
