Celebrate with the West Somerset Railway during our week-long festivities marking 150 years since the line's extension from Watchet to Minehead.
On 20th July, we are offering a special chance to travel behind Furness 20 from Watchet to Minehead at 11:45. VIP ticket holders should arrive at Watchet by 11:00 to enjoy a welcoming tea, coffee, and cake at the station. A 15-minute ceremony will follow the service's arrival at Watchet, honoring the line's extension anniversary.
The service departs Watchet for Minehead at 11:45. Upon arrival in Minehead, festivities include a market, Punch and Judy shows, a horse and cart display outside the station, shuttles behind Furness 20 and Thompson and Evershed No. 3, and turntable demonstrations.
Your ticket allows travel on the VIP service, not listed in the public timetable, and is valid for all our services for the rest of the day.
Starting your day in Minehead, catch the 10:00 service to Watchet, arriving at 10:35. Then, return to Minehead on the VIP service and have the option to travel towards Bishops Lydeard and back on any service that day.
Starting in Bishops Lydeard? take the 10:15 service to Watchet, arriving at 11:00. Afterward, the VIP service will take you to Minehead, with the freedom to head back towards Bishops Lydeard on any subsequent service.
