D4107 entered service with British Rail in November 1961 and was allocated to Carlisle Upperby. It stayed here until it was reallocated to Carlisle Kingmoor in June 1963. It moved to Hither Green in September 1968.

In May 1969, air brakes were fitted and in June that year, it had a change of livery to British Rail blue bodywork with a full yellow cab front. It was reallocated to Ashford Chart Leacon in June 1969, before being renumbered into the TOPS (Total Operations Processing System) series as 09019 in December 1973.

It was withdrawn in June 2010 and sold to Harry Needle Railroad Corporation but moved to the West Somerset Railway in 2013.

It has been repainted in British Rail Green livery and carries its original number D4107.
